Friends, nowadays it is not new if any PC crashes, with or without a reason:). But would you like to share your reason of crashing PC. Was it a virus, hardware failure, or software failure? Lets discuss in detail

I had something seriously wrong in the registry. To make a long story short the video drivers went bad and cpu was always running at high speeds. I just reformatted the thing, reinstalled needed drivers and all has been good so far. That was about 2 years ago.. But I can hear the hard drive rattling and I know it is gonna be time for a new one soon. You can tell a lot by what you hear from your PC just like when your car makes funny noises.

My last PC crash was 2 weeks ago, too much by HDD and a diet too low
I had 4 HDD 1TB, 500, 320, 160GB with a 450watt ATX, one morning I heard a few strange tapping from the PC closer examination showed the C drive (160GB) was damage and will not start more, a little google and soon came out that it the diet was. so i went to the store for a Zalman 600Watt and the PC will run again as a train.

Ahahah two days ago:
Tried to push my CRAPPY Nvidia 7600GS up a little higher with overclocking, but the Memory speed up 15 mhz from original, opened my last save file in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and the computer shut off ROFL.
Lol before that I tried to overclock my RAM, my computer wouldnt go past the POST screen in BIOS, so i couldn't fix the problem without resetting BIOS. Easy if you know what your doing, but if i wasn't tech savvy, I would have been crying ahaha.

Its funny how much crap vista gets but I have not had one crash that has made me restart my machine... well most likely there has been one but I cant honesty remember it. I do take good care of the system and wipe the drives and reinstall everything like every 6 months.

My last vista crash was... I guess 6 months ago,
I got a few blue screens and the problem was caused from the mouse driver.

Zonealarm seems to be incompatible with kaspersky. Ok I knew that, before I installed both of those, but I didn't release it would result in a major BSOD.
I just recently updated my graphics driver and rebooted on prompt. It would restart and after a few minutes crash with the same annoying blue screen. Finally for some reason, I decided to go into safe mode and uninstall zonealarm. Well, I figured the firewall or antivirus was interfering with the driver's normal operating procedure by blocking something. Guess what? Immediately after uninstalling it, it booted up with no problems at all. Now I need a new firewall. I'd rather not use zonealarm again, atleast not with kaspersky.

I have problems with Race griver Grid: Every time I retire from a race my comp crashes to desktop. Ok, it's better than it crashes totally and reboot the whole OS.

And at Company of Heroes (latest patch) at Very High/Ultra texture settings i had this bad message about: Graphic-Display Driver -doesn't know the english word for it ;) - doesn't work anymore.

This has afaik something to do with DX10 compatibility.

TheRiddler
10-22-2008, 03:11 PM
My crash was actually graphic card related. I don't know how but I guess I burned the graphics card out in some way. Not being really sure what had happened I started messing about putting my hd in another PC to test the drive out. After doing that something about the OS had issues in another computer in an effort to recover data I stuck the windows disk in which proceeded to clean the hd (reinstall). Long story short I learned quite a bit about hd and computers in this process. The end result was a new graphics card for the PC and a clean hd sigh. Sometimes in life you have those hard headed moments and don't ask for help.

Not sure the motherboard probably did its time had it a good while now
Same problem here, but that was years ago with ME. The emachine I have now works great with no problems. I like XP alot more than the older OSs.

There are plenty of reasons to make PC crashes and blue screen. Drivers, Anti-virus, Software/Hardware compatible, settings, Harddisk bad sectors, memory problems...
Even overclock your CPU/GPU can cause the problems. I've mine long time ago, the reason my PC crashed because of driver.

My PC's graphics driver stops working every time I try to play HD movies. The whole screen goes black and after repeatedly pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete an error message says:

"...your graphics driver has stopped functioning properly, restarting the system may restore it back..." something like that.

The resolution automatically drops to 640x480 and I've to restart the PC again :-(.

Maybe I don't have a graphics card that's why its happening ?

Reason unknown: Upon booting up, it will just crash on explorer, then restart and repeat roughly 2-3 times.

Would take 5 minutes and 2-3 crash boots to finally run properly.
