kk, Thanks for the added input, ill Add these 2 that came off Another site
Ruester
Western Digital Passport. I have one, it's small, easy to use, and it's usb powered, so you don't need a power outlet.
Check out http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory....

i agree with ruester, Western Digital hard drives are good and not to pricey. I've got a passport drive which i store all my torrents on, its a 320GB drive.
Only advice if you do buy one, get rid of all the transfer software that comes on it, its rubbish, v. slow and just plain annoying!

internal harddisk + casing (you will save much and you can use both as internal and external) comes around ~ $115

Pros: Reasonable price's plus free shipping
Cons: Newegg.com does not currently ship internationally; we only deliver to locations within the United States and to Puerto Rico. :(

dont go for open box if you dont live in USA ... there are 100 % warrenty issues and the product is likely to go kaput.

Good choice, I bought the same model, I have still yet to put it to use (still sealed).
Open box= Refurbished
Normal=Sealed
open top? not sure what you mean.

always stick with WD! i have 2 of them and they havent failed me yet and i use mine excessively
I've got a WD ethernet HD. It's faster that your normal USB ones. Although I had a few problems with the proprietary software, once I scrapped the software it worked fine and hasn't failed me since.
Definitely got for WD harddrives.

i have WD external HD
and It gone total lost once loosing all of my data
the warranty gave me a new one but the data was gone
then i understand that external are no good for working 24/7
they become hot very fast resulting in corruption...
if you use it only to save large movie/tv files that you use rarely its ok
but no good for any other reason(downloading straight to the external or installing games etc..)

make it yourself using a case and internal hdd.
the 2.5" ones with a laptop hdd are great as they are really small so good to carry around

I would personally grab a Rosewill external shell and then plop a TB you buy separately. Make sure it's sata though.

WD external drives are fine but be careful. These are just external drives! Not so reliable in backup things! Just put some internal HDDs in your old pc and store everything there unless you have money for an expensive NAS system..

I recommend western digital I've never had problems with them but I don't recommend buying one large disk, instead you should buy 2 smaller.. mine don't exceed 200GB each
the last time I told a friend ti buy 2 drives of 250 instead of one at 500 he didn't listen and later said he should have listen cause the drive crashed and he lost all the files on it.

WD comes with Firewire as well, in addition to the USB interface. Better speeds, but costlier. Depends on how much you want to shell out. Go for the Seagate 500GB/750GB models, or even Maxtor.

segate is a solid brand to go with. I would also reccomend western digital, although getting a good long lasting drive from them is hit or miss it seems. but the cavier line from them is spectacular when it works.
