I think that the # of people repping someone SHOULD matter more than the amount of rep point a person has.
Just because u happen to receive a rep from someone with "more" rep points doesn't mean you're more reputable than a person receiving reps from more than one person...
I think a lot of people agree with me...

Yeah, ppl could just give invites etc away to those that have high rep and just build it really fast like that.
Reps should just count for one point each. That way we'd have a better representation of each member and the rep points would be of more use. I really find this "rep power" thing useless to tell you the truth.

You should just look at a members rep period, and not just the rep points. Many members have way high rep and it is because they give away invites and get the high rep from that. Others have high rep because of bonus/karma give aways and that shouldn't be used when making decisions. It isn't hard to see what they have done to get rep if you look at their profiles. I agree rep has gotten out of control. A year ago it did work pretty well, but that was before 8,000 people joined and made it so much easier to build up rep.
