automerge for double post

I want to suggest automerge for double post

we have seen threads that have posts from the same user w/ in 24 hours consecutively and its a bit annoying.
ok we care about post counts however it shouldn't be done by double posting..like bumping a thread w/in 24 hours or double posting because of a silly error and forgot to just press the edit button.
we also have to inform/educate our members to use edit button when just updating a post.

Just report it then we will merge them automatically ;)

but jinx a person can only do much.what if there is no one to report
the reason I suggested this is for the system to correct double post on its own(automatically)
maybe u can see now what Im trying to suggest.it will make our life(specially mod and admin)easier

But you can't set it easily "Automatically Remove or Merge" because you can't codding it like that "if the user posted in the same thread and in 24 Hours and there is no post then delete it" codes are not working like that because you should check why he posted an if it merges it automatically could lose the meaning if this posts have no connection.

That's the why I'm saying report it because not just posts some users make double thread also for same thing then we will merge or delete and warn them.

This would be VERY Hard to implement.
Maybe make a test forum, and let users spam it with double posts mixed with normal posts so to test out the script you might use.
