View Full Version : The Pirate Bay In Hot Water (again)
http://www.reuters.com/article/industryNews/idUSL0480268320080204
Losing 'The Pirate Bay' would be a huge hit to the torrent community. It currently stands as one of the biggest, if not thee, biggest public tracker there is, and I'd hate to see it go.
Any comments on the latest?

I really don't think it will be shut down. If it does, it would be a terrible thing, a major hit for the authorities againts filesharing. However absolutely nobody, by no means will be able to stop filesharing forever... and i think they are aware of that. That's why I think what shutting down TPB is more of a tactic.. they want to shut down the biggest tracker just to scare people.

Not again. More like still. A swedish... what's the word in proper english? Those guys... the opposite of lawyers... anyway, one of those, Håkan Roswall, the one dealing with the TPB case, finally thought the proofs were solid enough (they've finally noticed that only 15 of the 200 servers they snatched at TPB's ISP belonged to TPB in 2006), and issued a sueing on the guysbehind TPB. Pretty much every media company ever, and some software companies as well, are sueing TPB through that order.
Is that understandable text at all? Never tried to speak/write "lawish" english before.
EDIT: The order itself (in Swedish): http://www.realtid.se/ArticlePages/200801/31/20080131132351_Realtid598/B_13301_06_Aktbil_95.pdf
You will still be able to read the company names, at least, so you know who to blame. :)

This would be devastating! Pirate Bay is my "fall back" site. When I need something odd/rare that I can't find elsewhere, Pirate Bay usually has it...This is very depressing news!

it wont happen
TPB went public on tv ages ago and pretty much said they were unstoppable, for people to do that they are one of the following;
too ****y for their own good
or
too clever
TPB aren't too ****y for their own good
they'll do fine :D

They will never die and never surrender. Honestly, this is just another attempt to take them down. I don't use them nowadays, but I hope they don't go down.
I'm sure they'll fight to the death of it, they won't just up and give up (*cough* Demonoid >_>) at the first sight of difficulty.
Long Live TPB!
