the order of prederence:

1. Windows XP

I still rate Xp as the best OS from MS. i have been testing Windows 7 at work and it seems that Win 7 is a cleaned up version of Vista. actually 7 is what vista should have been in the first place. it loads quickly. most of the Vista drivers are compatible as it is. and there are some cool features in there as well. but 7 will have to prove itself in time to climb up in my good books over XP.

Just switched to 7 but isn't compatible with all games but does give you more information about programs and system and has some cool features for handling open windows and does a better job of file handling. I have only been using it a week or so some things are hard to find but a good search engine helps with that.

i can't believe ppl still using XP. its 10 years old! Windows 7 is the way to go, even vista was better than XP. I used it since beta and its been super stable, don't know wtf ppl were on about. First of all vista is like a beta version of windows 7 so forget about it. A proof for that is that all drivers for windows vista work fine on windows 7. Second windows XP is a great operating system I will give you that but if you own a high end station and got at least 6GB of ram you need to go with windows 7. Sure there is windows xp x64 version but there is just too few drivers for it so you crash into compatibility problem.

Yes, this is one of the main reasons that I love windows 7. I think I remember reading somewhere that in windows 7 games actually get a 5% performance boost.
