utorrent uploading problems

I'm having problems with my utorrent seeding speeds and am a little unsure as to why, I was wondering if anyone might be able to help as it is hurting my ratios in different sites, I live in a college dorm and was wondering if this might affect it. Anybody who can offer any suggestions would be doing me a great service. Thank you very much.

Probably your upload bandwidth is smaller than your download bandwidth... not sure though

You need to give more information. How many seeds/leechers are on the torrent? Have you changed any settings recently? What does utorrent tell you in the status box at the bottom? Are your ports forwarded correctly?


There are a lot of things, but you need to describe your problems a little better before anyone can help you.

Here's what I got, just got american gangster a couple of days ago and its only uploaded 83.4mb, its got 0 (169) for seeds, and for peers 0 (121), on the bottom ive got dht disabled, ive got no incoming connections for that triangle symbol thing, d 45 kp/ T, U 12 kb/ T, I have fooled around with some of the settings so this may have something to do with it, mostly just the ports and stuff, i dont know if this is enough info if not let me know, any help you can offer would help, also if you know of any reason why a firrewal from a school dorm room might harm it let me know as well,

More info is needed I have a nice little patch that I picked up the other day that helps tremendously if you haven't done a patch like this before. There is also a bunch of thing you can do to optimize uTorrent that a lot of folks don't know or realize.

EDIT: (169) for seeds, and for peers 0 (121) now out of these how many of the seeders have actually DL 100% of the files that is a common trick

The site you are on would help as well. I ask, because the file you stated is rather old and probably doesnt have a lot of leechers. I would try a newer file with a lot of leechers and see if you are still experiencing these problems.

This is a section you can tweak and a program to run.

net.max_halfopen (How many connection attempts µTorrent will make at any one time.) This setting depends on whether or
not you've hacked your TCPIP.SYS file (if you have SP2 installed). If you're unsure, you probably haven't patched it. If you'd
like to, or if you just want to check, grab this utility from my website: hxxp://guidoz.com/requests/TCPIP.SYS%20Patch%20v2.12.exe

EDIT: What to do when you run this program:

-> If your file is unhacked, NEVER set this higher then 8!
-> If you have patched your TCPIP.SYS file, the best way to determine this number is to divide your upload kbps (384 in my example) by 4 (96 in my example).

Aha. PM on. If there's anything I can do to get out any more kb from that antenna jack, I'll try it. But then, I should perhaps get satisfyed soon. Am on constant +15% of what I pay for.:-D
