I just saw a new announcement on TL and I think I should let everyone know:

As a security precaution (after a few changes in the login procedure we did), it is necessary that we ask every user to change his password and make sure his email registered in your profile is accurate. Please choose a random password at least 8 characters long, including a special character (like @, #, $). Thank you in advance for your cooperation

Like they say it's a security precaution, they changed log in system and maybe with special characters, stealing passwds is harder to obtain, dunno but special characters give more combination possibilities and passwds are more difficult to guess or spoof.

For those that may have missed it there was some hacker activity and some accounts were compromised, hence the resetting of the passwords. From what I understand there were less than 75 accounts affected on different sites not necessarily on TL, at least when I read about early on Tuesday. Hope this helps clear up some questions as to why we are being asked to do this.
