I was wondering if we should create a thread or forum topic for notifying members when a particular site is participating in a free leech session?

Sometimes there's only a small window, like 2-3days and it sucks to miss those opportunities.

From what I've seen, when there was a freeleech period on a certain tracker, that was posted in the "Torrent news" section and everyone found out about it in time (hopefully). But it might a good idea to keep it organized, so I agree with this sugestion

Yes... To build their buffer and use the site more. Nothing worse than loads of seeds but nobody leeching them. You have to download as well as upload on trackers, or it's completely pointless.

Plus, Druid, you're going on the assumption that only sites with open registration have free leech. This would also include sites that you have to be invited to. So you couldn't just sign up to the site to hit&run a free leech period.

We succeeded in our objective to stress the load beyond expected limits. Continuing to do so won't result in further benefits either to Gazelle or to the Community. As a result we're ending this segment of Freeleech, but the good news is that our protocol of testing is not complete and we intend to run and complete further tests (some of which may include more freeleech). You can be assured that you will enjoy the process and the results.

At any rate, the codebase is a lot faster than it was when freeleech began. :)

We're hoping to see the total number of torrents break 200k during these festivities, so even if you aren't a FLACophile, you can still grab and transcode as many FLACs as possible during this period, and bring you that much closer to the Elite and TorrentMaster classes, without hurting your ratio a bit. All FLACs uploaded during this period will be set to freeleech as well and will most likely be snatched multiple times, so it's a great time to build ratio by uploading FLACs as well.

We've noticed that far too many people are wasting money on servers. Torrents are all about using multiple home users' connections to give you as much speed as you need. To hopefully help people to download more than they normally would/could anything you download only counts as 75% to your total.

Disks (Blu-ray/HD DVD) will continue to be 50% as they have been for quite a while, and of course free leech torrents are still 0% :)
