Demonoid is open

I just stopped by to create some invites and noticed that--as of 09/01--demonoid registrations are open to all.

Don't know how long that will last, but it's usually only a day or two. I guess I don't need the invites for now, but if you miss the open registration I can still help you out.

People always talk about great private torrent sites like PTP, CN, PTN, BCG, BitMeTV, Karagarga, elbitz, waffles, what.cd etc. for various categories of torrents but they always fail to mention this greatest tracker of all, at least according to many including me, for the obscure and wide variety of content it tracks.

"Please do not remind me that demonoid has its tracker public, only the site is private."

I know some people rate private tracker/torrent site based on how difficult it is to get into it and how difficult is to maintain accounts there, but what if, enough content is not there to share in those great trackers. What good is that? I have account at many of those great tracker/torrent sites, I love them but demonoid has HUGE amount of content that is popular as well as obscure which even competes with that great TPB.

Hey, I agree. I'm not a site snob, I only care about the content. Although I do also care about the "safety" too--aka how many MPAA and RIAA reps are camping out on the torrents--so I tend to keep away from the truly public trackers (I've gotten too many letters from the studios via my ISP).

I'm a member of most of the sites you mention too...but I keep going back to bitsoup (of all places), because I can easily reach 10-20MB/s up AND down (aka up to 200Mbps, per torrent), and it's trivial to keep up a massive ratio. Those Romanians seem to all have super-fast seedboxes!

That said, the "elite" sites actually do have a lot of content that you can't find anywhere else--especially custom rips and packs--so they're worth finding your way into...
