Even though there's debate whether Wikileaks acted correctly by releasing classified documents (and doing so again in the future), I have to say that I agree it's disingenuous to conflate personal charges/accusations against Assange with the political/openness work his site is doing. One has little relevance to his organization's larger message, and by pressing him on it against his wishes to address the accusations looked badly on CNN.

Words by Meredith Jessup at TheBlaze.com

"While WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange has made a name for himself by putting members and operations of the U.S. military under the public’s microscope, don’t expect him to shed light on his own personal trappings.

During an interview with CNN, the interviewer presses him to discuss rape and sexual molestation charges previously brought against him in Sweden, Assange abruptly ends the interview and walks off camera:

“It’s completely disgusting,” he remarks to the interviewer. “I‘m going to walk if you’re going to contaminate us revealing the deaths of 104,000 people with attacks against my person.”

According to reports, once the Swedish charges were filed, Assange told a Swedish tabloid he believed the U.S. Department of Defense was behind them. “We have been warned that the Pentagon, for example, is thinking of deploying dirty tricks to ruin us. And I have also been warned about sex traps,” he said. Later it was revealed that the “dirty tricks” had been hatched by a couple of Swedish Wiki fans."

Haha, Good ol' classic bait and switch

Im not familiar with the whole story but if she didnt bring him there to discuss what the primary issue was and not involve his personal life then i would have walked also. :)

I don't claim this guy for walking out one bit. If I were in his situation I would have done the exact same thing. I hate it when people try to destroy the credibility of someone so that they can't get their story out. It drives me up The wall. Now I'm not saying that this guys is guilty or not guilty. I'm just saying in principle.

It's also messed up when news reporters bait you into an interview and then ask you all the questions they promises they couldn't cover. Which I'm sure was the case this time as well.
