Just wanted to give everyone a heads up. I got a notice today from my ISP stating they got a copyright infringement violation from my account. I came up empty on a torrent and dipped into a Public Tracker which I almost never do. Just be warned. The tracker that was being monitored was Souptracker.
Peace out
can I just ask who your ISP is??

Charter Communications. They just basically sent me a letter, said to stop doing it, and that I'd be held responsible. I'm sure they send those out by the dozens.
I'm sure you're right toxxic but it still makes you apprehensive!.
Not to mention having your wife wagging her finger saying I told you so

oh Ya. For sure.
its really stupid, I think that ISPs offer different internet packages, mainly b/c they know its for their customer's downloading habits and then send out a letter demanding them to stop.
Really strange, I think.

they do send them out by the dozens, i don't really think a hell of a lot comes from them,
i never replied / did anything about them & here i am,
the internet operators should really be protecting us, we are their biggest customers.

Use PeerGuardian 2 or SafePeer plug in for Azureus PeerGuardian 2 works on all clients This will keep you safe while downloading if you are stuck pm me or serch google the PeerGuardian 2 is easy to set up but SafePeer is a plug in for azureus so you will need to install the plug in PeerGuardian 2 is a stand alone program just run set up and choose what you want to block also you can create custom lists by the way if it sometimes blocks your client so just allow the ip and your all done hope this helps. I use Protowall, and Safepeer, but even those aren't complete protection.

I've had about 12 of those silly little notices, and I told my ISP to "cancel my account if I'm violation of the TOS" which they did not. I started using PG2 and all those notices stopped abruptly, so IMO it really works. Although I'm now avoiding mininova etc. in favor of private BT sites, which obviously has something to do with it.
I'm assuming the ISP is just following up by doing this, and most would prefer not to cancel accounts (and revenue). I highly recommend not clicking on those links that state "I've deleted the infracting material..." because this just openly admits that you downloaded it in the first place.

Thanks sharky, good to know. So funny follow up, I'm out of town and my ol' man is "house sitting". He says I've been getting calls from my ISP but he keeps missing it. He gives me the number & i call it. It's a law firm, so i'm like great...what now, thinking it's because of this notice. Turns out he wrote the number down wrong and all they wanted was to upgrade my package to get HBO. Seriously, I can't make this **** up.
So not only do they obviously not take it too serious I'm still considered worthy enough for an upgrade :-) I found it a little too coincidental that the wrong number was a law firm though. I think the gods have a sense of humor after all. A little karma in your face!
