Kim Jong Il, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), passed away last Saturday, the DPRK's official KCNA news agency reported on Monday.

It will be interesting to see whether there will be a power struggle among the leadership, as I see it Kim Jong-il's son does not have much experience with governance so perhaps someone else will step in. There is a good chance that this will allow North Korea to put an end to its fierce isolationism, that has prevented them from progressing into a 21st century style state. Watching and reading about North Korea it strikes me as the people and indeed the regime is frozen in time, as if it is the 1950's and the Cold War is raging on. I think if any change were to come about it would through the pressure and a cleve and effective propaganda scheme from South Korea perhaps stirring the people up north to rebel.

PS. We don't want North Korea to dissolve fast like the USSR did, after all North Korea has a huge military arsenal for its size including nuclear weapons and ICBMs. You wounld't want those to mysteriosly go missing, as happened in former Soviet states.

kim jong too il. Kim jong un isnt too popular for some reason. Bomb the south to increase credit.
